JOB DESCRIPTION: In conjunction with the CNO, the M/S Unit Manager is responsible for the coordination of the clinical operations of the unit including coordination of nursing care, coordination of patient care services and activities, and supervision of nursing staff, as well as interfacing with physicians and the multidisciplinary team. This position provides coordination of the day-to-day nursing functions for the Medical-Surgical unit in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting agencies. The MS Manager will supervise the Patient Care Coordinator position.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Included but are not limited to scheduling job assignments, assisting with admissions and discharges, developing nursing unit priorities, orienting new nursing staff, communicating policies and procedures, implementing planned changes, arranging for unit staffing needs, communication of patient issues requiring physician direction to the attending physician, assisting with Quality/Performance Improvement Activities and providing feedback to staff, evaluating staff job performance, counseling and disciplining employees, as necessary.

TYPE: Full-Time; Days –primarily (but may be required to work any day/night shift to assist with providing shift coverage).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensure: RN - current Kentucky license, BLS / ACLS/ PALS
  • Education: BSN degree preferred
  • Experience: Five (5) years of acute care clinical experience, prior management experience preferred
